The place beside the door
Some of the moments worth remembering are the ones that happen every day: a dog waiting beside the door, a tail starting to move, the pause before the whole welcome begins. A pet story does not need an extraordinary event to matter.
If you are writing about a companion like this, describe one ordinary arrival home. What did you hear first? Where did your dog stand? Was there a toy in their mouth, or a particular patch of sunlight on the floor? Those details help a reader meet the animal you know.
A clear photograph of that familiar expression can be a starting point for a personal keepsake. Choose the memory first, then decide whether a name, a date or a short phrase belongs beside it.
